Toyota is Malta’s leading automotive brand – EMCS research

19/05/2022

We are delighted that Toyota has been rated as one of the most popular brands in Malta, according to research published by EMCS Malta on 18 May 2022.

The firm revealed the results of a two-year long study which provides information on the brand value and consumer perception of different brands in Malta. The research, which is the first of its kind locally, was carried out through a survey and was titled “The Brands in Malta Survey 2021-2022”. It highlighted consumers’ behavioural tendencies, reflecting which brand they favour over another. The EMCS research mentions over 250 different brands by the survey respondents.

The report gives answers to questions such as how the brand compares to competing brands, how it performs overall in the industry, age groups and brand popularity, as well as gender differences. It provides insight into consumers’ behavioural tendencies and focusses on a number of economic and market sectors, including automobiles.

In fact, Toyota was rated the leading brand in the automobiles sector and the second most loved international brand in Malta.

Mr. Geoffrey Debono at Debono Group said: “Once more, more research confirms that Toyota is a leading international brand in Malta and the leader in the automotive sector. This fills us with pride and joy and drives us to continue working with determination to offer our customers and the market the best-in-class products and services.”

Last month we announced that Toyota has been reconfirmed as Malta’ best-selling automotive brand for 2021 for the fourth consecutive year. Simultaneously, the authoritative portal Forbes.com, in its automotive section called Forbes Wheels, reconfirmed Toyota as the global best-selling brand of new cars for 2021.

Toyota was first introduced to the Maltese Islands in 1960 when Michael Debono became its first distributor in Europe.
